A few winters ago, my folks announced that they were going sweets-free for the holidays. But some of the most fun, fancy holiday traditions involve dessert! I didn’t want our family celebration to be fancy-free, so I designed this decorative plate of hummus using hand-cut stencils and powdered spices. Dessert turned into an appetizer, and eating it became a beautiful process of transience and ephemerality.
