I worked with the Friends of Kezar Triangle to design a set of picnic blankets to be enjoyed at their small park at the edge of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The area was filled with gophers at the time. Usually considered to be pests, I wanted the gophers to feel welcome — it was their home too, after all — so I scattered gopher holes throughout the blankets. You could of course greatly increase your chance of a gopher joining your picnic if you aligned a hole in a blanket with a hole in the ground. See photo #4 for a little visitor who popped in!
